Dr. Berni Guerrero

Dr. Berni Guerrero is a high-performance fitness coach and sports scientist whose work blends elite football conditioningload monitoring, and rehabilitation-focused practice, supported by a strong academic foundation in applied football research.

He is currently a Fitness Coach at Málaga CF (since August 2025), operating within a full-time professional environment in the Greater Málaga area. This role builds on an earlier spell at the same club, where he served as a Strength & Conditioning Coach within the academy (2016–2018), leading physical development and injury-prevention support for youth players, including high-level competition age groups.

Alongside his club work, Berni is the Founder and CEO of Triplemelon (since January 2024), reflecting an entrepreneurial focus on performance practice and innovation. He also maintains a long-standing track record as a self-employed Strength & Conditioning Coach (since 2013), working across sports with an emphasis on performance development and return-to-performance processes.

His clinical and rehabilitation experience includes time as a Rehabilitation Specialist at Clínica Sohail (2021–2022) and work as an athletic trainer/rehab therapist in the Barcelona area (2018–2020), strengthening his practical capability in injury management and reconditioning strategies. Internationally, he held the position of Head of Strength & Conditioning Coach at Liuzhou Yuandao FC (2019), combining S&C leadership with assistant coaching and rehab responsibilities—experience that adds a broader perspective on football culture and delivery models.

Academically, Berni earned a PhD in Sports Sciences from University of Granada (completed March 2021), graduating Cum Laude. His doctoral research focused on the monitoring and quantification of training and match load in elite footballers, with specific attention to how data can inform the practical design of tasks and training methodologies—an applied theme that aligns closely with modern high-performance departments.

He is also a long-term Professor with ISSPF (since August 2019), contributing to online coach and practitioner development through evidence-informed content in soccer-specific physical performance, load management, and applied training design. Fluent in Spanish and English, Dr. Guerrero represents a profile that connects research-led thinking with day-to-day realities on the training pitch and in return-to-play environments.
